The State Government always works closely with the Federal Government in addressing the issue of foreign migrants that has a direct connection to security.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said each action taken is the result of a comprehensive study that took into account all aspects.
This includes the views and feedback from the people as well as suggestions and recommendations channelled officially to the Technical Committee on Foreign Migrant Management in Sabah and Main Committee of Foreign Migrant Management in Sabah.
Musa said both committees were set up after the completion of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on Illegal Immigrants in Sabah in 2014.
"The Technical Committee on Foreign Migrant Management in Sabah chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan is proactively collecting all recommendations and views from interested parties or stakeholders," he said.
In regards to the issue of irregularities of Malaysian ICs, Musa said the State Government via the National Registration Department (NRD) is in the midst of checking ICs, of which some have been cancelled.
"The total ICs involved will be announced by the government after certain processes have been fulfilled and verified through the Main Committee of Foreign Migrant Management in Sabah co-chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and myself.
"The checking process is currently going smoothly," said Musa while adding that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government is very serious in addressing the issue beyond the various background of people, religious and races in the state.
It this context, he said, the issue warrants cooperation from all sides towards a solution.
